For Vin Diesel, the Fast X movies have always stood for family, and now joining that family (musically), BTS Jimin has joined forces with NLE Choppa, Kodak Black, JVKE and Muni Long for the Angel Pt 1 music video, which has finally premiered on May 18, 2023. Releasing a day before the movie’s premiere, this song is set to feature on the tenth instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise that keeps welcoming new additions with every chapter.
Sporting an ensemble cast, the upcoming American action film stars Diesel, Jason Momoa, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, John Cena, Brie Larson and many others. In the new instalment, Diesel’s Dominic Toretto faces his biggest and baddest adversary yet – Momoa’s Dante Reyes.
Coming back to the soundtrack aspect of the film, the speed racing movies have always included fast tracks that easily stir up one’s adrenaline rush, keeping in tune with the Fast and Furious style. However, each of these movies has also always introduced us all to some soft-hearted and heart rending beats to incorporate an emotional touch that goes well with its family trope. Angel Pt 1 celebrates not only the ongoing long-running movie saga, for Jimin, it’s an even more meaningful feat since it marks the South Korean singer’s first venture into an international film’s soundtrack.
Snippets from the upcoming movie are also incorporated into the newly released official video of the song. As expected, the video doesn’t merely focus on the action-packed storyline, but also the various relationships each of its characters have built with each other throughout the saga. Each of the featuring artists on the video start their respective melodies alone. Only Muni Long and Park Jimin eventually cross the gap and share the same room while singing out the heartfelt chorus – “Angel don’t fly so close to me“. NLE Choppa and Kodak Black go full throttle with their rap verses, while JVKE, Jimin and Muni Long balance out the harmony with their sweet euphonic vocals.
Even if you just listen to the song’s chorus, its meaning is made clear in those few words itself. Diesel’s character has witnessed and experienced several setbacks since the beginning of the series, given his role as a professional street racer. He’s met with endless accidents that have caused his crew harm, or vice versa, and as the Fast Saga is built around the family circle, these characters are bound to feel protective of each other’s well being, as sung out loud in its soundtrack.
