Amidst growing anticipation for BTS member V's solo album, remarks made by music critic Kim Young-Dae are garnering attention.
During a recent lecture at the 2023 ACC Humanities, Kim gave a talk about BTS, specifically mentioning V, the final member to embark on a solo career.
Upon mentioning that he had heard a few songs from V's solo album, the audience erupted with excitement. "I can't go into detail given company restrictions," Kim noted cautiously, "but I think you're going to be surprised."
Kim added, "V as a vocalist can be viewed as a new discovery. Of course, the familiar side of V is there, but I think you'll be surprised by how he's expressed himself in these songs."
Kim continued to stoke the anticipation, stating, "First of all, the music is simply too good. V has an incredibly charming voice. In BTS songs, he has interpreted it in a certain way. In this album, he has really let it loose. It's very natural."
He also hinted, "If you're curious about this natural side of V, just wait. There's also a unique reason that I can't tell you about just now. You're likely to be taken aback. And no, it's not a collaboration," leaving fans even more curious.
The video of this talk has been spreading through online communities, drawing a heated response from fans. Reactions include: "I'm already excited," "I'm so looking forward to V's voice," and "If it's about V's vocal color, it's over."
BTS has been displaying diverse musical colors and directions through individual activities since last July starting with J-Hope, followed by Jin, RM, Jimin, Suga, and Jungkook, creating more synergy in their steps.
In particular, during a press conference held before a 2021 concert in LA, V shared, "BTS music is similar yet different from my own music style. I've been working on my personal music with a desire to express a preference for blues and jazz styles. I hope one day to show my own music, which is different from BTS," which has fueled fans' support for V's unique musical challenge.
Meanwhile, regarding rumors of V's solo debut in the third quarter of this year, BigHit Music, the agency of BTS, said, "We will announce the schedule after confirmation."
