V Scores His First Top 10 On One Specific Chart

It’s been more than a year since V became one of the last members of BTS to release a solo album. In the fall of 2023, the singer dropped Layover, a short set that quickly proved he has a sizable fan base on his own, in addition to the following he claims as one of the seven musicians that make up the boy band.

Layover is back on the American charts this week after it was re-released. The set quickly brings V to a tally he’s never reached before—at least not on his own.

V debuts his only solo collection at No. 7 on this week’s Vinyl Albums chart. The Billboard tally ranks the bestselling titles on wax in the U.S.

The BTS star earns not only his first placement on the vinyl-only roster, but his first top 10 smash. As one-seventh of the Grammy-nominated act, the singer has risen higher in the past. BTS has only placed a pair of titles on the chart, and both Love Yourself: Her and Love Yourself: Tear soared to No. 1.

V claims the fourth-highest-ranking debut on the Vinyl Albums chart this week. Layover lands behind popular collections from stars like Yeat (Lyfestyle, No. 4), Doja Cat (Scarlet, No. 5), and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (Long After Dark, No. 6).

Five more projects start their time on Billboard’s vinyl-only list behind V, as this week is especially packed with exciting launches on the format. New—and decades-old—titles from Laufey, Kylie Minogue, Dan + Shay, and Mariah Carey are among those that debut behind the BTS musician.

Layover was only recently released on vinyl, more than a year after the album first arrived. The set sold another 3,900 copies across all formats, according to Luminate. That number is large enough to ensure the title also reaches the Top Album Sales chart, where it returns at No. 16.
