V Debuts His New Single On Four Billboard Charts Simultaneously

BTS singer V is back on the Billboard charts this week with a brand new collaboration. The South Korean superstar joined rising talent Umi on the tune “Wherever U R,” which has become a big win on the weekly rankings as it arrives. The tune is new this week on four lists published by the company, helping V show that even if he's on a bit of a musical break as he focuses on his military career, he can still chart a hit in America.

“Wherever U R” benefits primarily from strong sales, as fans of both Umi and V purchased the song in large enough quantities to send it straight to a number of Billboard charts. The track sold just under 4,600 copies in its first few days of availability, according to Luminate.

Of the four Billboard charts that “Wherever U R” debuts on this week, three are based solely around pure purchases. The fourth is, in part, composed including sales, so it's clear that all those fans who headed to Amazon and iTunes to support V and Umi were successful in their aim of giving them a proper hit.

“Wherever U R” arrives at No. 5 on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart. The track earns the highest start of the frame on the ranking of the bestselling titles in the country. V returns to the highest tier on the tally with another top 10 win–his sixth as a soloist– while Umi lands her first win.

The same cut also breaks onto a pair of other purchase-only rankings. “Wherever U R” nearly conquers the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart, instead opening in second place. The tune misses out on becoming a leader as it couldn’t beat Jack Harlow’s “Lovin On Me,” which earns another stay at No. 1. The same collaboration launches in first on the more specific R&B Digital Song Sales chart, becoming a rare leader for a South Korean artist.

All those sales of “Wherever U R” have also helped it become a hit on a more all-encompassing chart as well. The Umi/V collaboration launches at No. 20 on the Hot R&B Songs. That’s not nearly as high as on the tallies that only look at sales, but it’s a great placement for a brand new cut on the ranking of the most-consumed R&B tunes in America.
