V Breaks Record For Longest-Charting K-Pop Solo Album In Billboard 200 History

Three months after its release, BTS’s V has re-entered the Billboard 200 with “Layover”!

Back when it was first released in September, V’s solo debut album “Layover” entered Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart at No. 2, tying the record for the highest ranking ever achieved on the chart by a Korean solo artist. The album went on to spend seven consecutive weeks on the chart, making V the first Korean soloist in history to achieve the feat.

On December 5 local time, Billboard revealed that “Layover” had re-entered the Billboard 200 at No. 176, marking its eighth non-consecutive week on the chart.

With this re-entry, V has become the first Korean solo artist in history to chart an album for eight weeks on the Billboard 200, breaking the record for the longest-charting K-pop solo album set by his bandmate RM‘s “Indigo” (which charted for seven non-consecutive weeks).

“Layover” also climbed back up to No. 24 on Billboard’s Top Current Album Sales chart and No. 35 on the Top Album Sales chart this week, marking its 12th consecutive week on both charts.

Meanwhile, V’s title track “Slow Dancing” stayed strong at No. 140 in its 12th week on Billboard’s Global Excl. U.S. chart, followed by “Love Me Again” at No. 194 in its 15th week.

Finally, V charted at No. 83 on Billboard’s Artist 100, marking his ninth non-consecutive week on the chart as a solo artist.

Congratulations to V on his historic achievement!
