Suga Owns Half Of An Entire Billboard Chart

Suga hasn’t released any new music for over a year, but his fanbase continues to consume his solo work in huge numbers in the U.S. In fact, sales of many of the tracks he’s released outside of BTS surged recently, as his followers rally to support the star during a somewhat challenging time.

As thousands of Suga die-hards in America keep buying his music, they’ve sent many of his solo tracks back onto one key chart. The BTS superstar doesn’t just return to that tally this week—he dominates it in a way that is rarely seen these days.

Suga occupies 50% of all the spaces on one Billboard chart this week. That kind of showing is uncommon, especially for an artist who hasn’t just released a new batch of songs or an album. Yet, the South Korean talent has managed to take control of the chart with older material.

On this week’s World Digital Song Sales chart, Suga’s name appears in five slots. The ranking of the bestselling “world” tunes in the U.S. now features only 10 spaces, meaning the BTS singer snags half of all the available positions.

“The Last,” released under Suga’s Agust D moniker, returns to the World Digital Song Sales chart at No. 1. It gives the singer another solo leader and marks a fairly uncommon instance of an older song returning to the summit rather suddenly.

Suga’s next two highest-ranking tracks both reach new peaks this week as they re-enter the chart. “Polar Night” returns at No. 3, while “People” climbs to No. 4 on the latest World Digital Song Sales ranking.

His collaboration “Snooze,” featuring both Ryuichi Sakamoto and Woosung, is also back on the chart, and it reaches its all-time high. The track reappears at No. 6 on the sales-only tally.

Rounding out his presence on the chart, Suga’s track “Haegum” claims the No. 9 spot. The tune, which served as a single from his most recent solo project D-Day, has previously ruled the tally, but now hangs on in the lower ranks.

Suga’s resurgence on the charts is tied to a recent incident back in South Korea, where he was allegedly caught driving a scooter under the influence. In response, fans have rushed to support the musician, with many calling out the media in his home country for how it has handled the situation. One major way his fans have shown their love is by purchasing his solo work en masse, helping him dominate the charts once again.
