“Spring Day” Tops The U.S. iTunes Charts In Time For Jungkook And Jimin’s Military Enlistment

American singer-songwriter and producer Mariah Carey has fully embraced the love of her hit holiday song, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

Each year, the legendary artist officially welcomes in the holiday season as she prepares for her 1994 hit song to top the music charts again, 29 years after its release.

Her festive holiday song continues to dominate the charts this time of year and is undoubtedly a timeless classic, but today, it was dethroned from its number-one spot on the U.S. iTunes chart for a very heartwarming reason.

For the first time, BTS‘s 2017 mega-hit song “Spring Day” rose to the top of the U.S. iTunes charts, claiming the number-one spot six years after its release.

The incredible feat coincides with the military enlistments of members RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook, who began their mandatory military service on December 11 and 12 (KST).

With the recent enlistment of the four youngest members, the entire group is now completing their military duties. Jin and J-Hope are expected to complete their service in 2024, while the remaining members will be discharged in 2025.

BTS’s “Spring Day” is about love, longing, and the “experience of losing a friend,” making its overtake of the U.S. iTunes charts even more meaningful as ARMYs process the members being away.

As fans are admittedly “going through it,” they’ve banded together to send the group off with the iconic achievement of charting their emotional and nostalgic 2017 song.

Fans reacted to the group’s accomplishment in true ARMY fashion, with a mix of emotional responses and humor to get through the pain.
