RM Shares Rare Glimpse Into Childhood, Fans React

Global sensation BTS continues to captivate fans not only with their music but also with personal glimpses into their lives. Recently, BTS leader Kim Namjoon, better known as RM, delighted fans by sharing a rare childhood photo and details about his birth, sparking an emotional response from the ARMY.

On Monday, January 20, RM surprised followers by posting a childhood picture on his Instagram Stories. The photo, featuring a three-year-old RM enjoying a piggyback ride from his father at their home, offered a rare glimpse into the star’s early life. The 30-year-old idol, known for keeping his family out of the public eye, melted hearts with the touching moment.


In a subsequent story, RM revealed details about his birth. He shared that he was born on September 12, 1994, weighing an impressive 4.47 kilograms (9.85 pounds). For context, the average weight for male newborns in Korea typically ranges between 2.5 and 4 kilograms.


The post quickly went viral, with fans showering RM and his family with admiration and love. The adorable photo and birth details elicited a mix of awe and respect, particularly for RM’s mother. “He was a big boy from the start,” one fan commented. Another added, “I was only born at 6.5 pounds, so wow, I respect his mother! Thank you, Mother Kim.”

Currently, RM is fulfilling his mandatory military service, having enlisted in December 2023 alongside fellow BTS members V, Jimin, and Jungkook. The group is expected to complete their service and return to the public eye by June 2025.

Despite his military duties, RM has kept fans engaged with his creative endeavors. In May 2024, he released his second studio album, Right Place, Wrong Person, which received critical acclaim. Additionally, in December 2024, RM unveiled a documentary titled Right People, Wrong Place, directed by Lee Seok Jun. The film, which chronicled the making of his second solo album, enjoyed limited screenings and added another layer to RM’s artistic journey.
