It was revealed in an internal audit that a KORAIL employee accessed the personal information of RM, the leader of the group BTS, without permission.
SBS '8 News' reported on the 1st that KORAIL employee A had accessed BTS RM's personal information 18 times without permission for 3 years.
Mr. A checked not only ticket information, but also personal information such as the address, mobile phone number, and mobile phone model that RM registered when signing up for KORAIL membership. Since 2019, such personal information has been accessed 18 times over the past three years.
Initially, personal information of KORAIL customers can only be viewed for business purposes by authorized departments, but it is said that Mr. A was able to access it because he was working in the IT department that operates the reservation release system.
Mr. A boasted to those around him, saying, "I checked the RM reservation history and saw the real thing" and "My friend gave me the ticket information so that I could buy a seat nearby", but was caught.
KORAIL conducted an audit of the employee with an internal tip-off. However, KORAIL said, "We confirmed that Mr. A accessed personal information without permission, but we did not confirm that he leaked it to the outside."
Mr. A also checked the personal information of not only RM but also the male KORAIL employees who became a hot topic for appearing on TV without permission.
KORAIL has recommended that Mr. A be suspended. According to '8 News', Mr. A said, "I inquired out of simple curiosity" and "I am sorry".
