Jungkook Matches BTS As He Charts Another Top 40 Hit

Jung Kook’s music career is on hold for the moment, as he has just enlisted in the South Korean military. While the singer may be busy serving his country, some of his songs are still rising on the Billboard charts. This week, the superstar earns another important win, and in doing so, he matches a feat that’s only been accomplished by the band that made him a household name.

On this week’s Radio Songs chart, Jung Kook earns another top 40 hit. The singer’s “Too Much,” which is a collaboration with The Kid Laroi and Central Cee, improves to No. 38. It lifts into the top 40 region for the first time, bringing Jung Kook back to the competitive space.

Jung Kook has now collected a pair of top 40 hits on Billboard’s Radio Songs chart, which tracks the top-performing tunes at radio stations across the U.S., regardless of genre. As “Too Much” climbs, he becomes only the second South Korean musical act to snag more than one top 40 hit on the most important radio chart published by the company.

The BTS star first reached the top 40 arena on the Radio Songs chart just last year–at least under his own name. He joined Charlie Puth on the single “Left and Right,” which became another smash for the two artists. “Left and Right” peaked at No. 28.

The only other South Korean musical name to collect more than one top 40 win on the Radio Songs chart is BTS. The group that counts Jung Kook as one of its members leads all K-pop stars with the most big hits on the airplay tally. The septet has thus far collected three top 40 smashes on the list.

BTS has risen highest on the Radio Songs chart with “Dynamite.” That global hit peaked at No. 10 and stands as the only top 10 win among K-pop acts. They then went on to push “Butter” to No. 20 a year later. Also in 2021, “My Universe,” a collaboration with Coldplay, rocketed as high as No. 25.

Only a few other South Korean musicians have also managed to land a top 40 appearance on the Radio Songs tally. Psy’s "Gangnam Style" broke into the region in 2012. This year, Fifty Fifty’s “Cupid” nearly matched that showing.
