South Korean singer Jin, best known as a member of K-pop boyband BTS, will reportedly be a torchbearer at the 2024 Summer Olympic.
As reported today (July 2) by South Korean news agency Yonhap, BTS’ Jin will reported participate at the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympic in Paris later this month as one of the torchbearers at the ceremony, according to music industry sources the publication spoke to.
The K-pop star is expected to travel to France “in the near future” in order to take part in the torch relay, Yonhap and Dispatch report, though that also note that the “exact location and schedule” for his participation in the sporting event have not been disclosed.
Last month, Jin became the first member of BTS to complete his mandatory military service. In celebration of the singer’s military discharge, the boyband reunited during a private celebration at the HYBE headquarters in Seoul.
In the days following his discharge, Jin held a fanmeeting in Seoul to commemorate the boyband’s 11th anniversary as part of their annual ‘Festa’ celebrations. During the event, the singer surprised fans with an unreleased extended version of his solo song ‘Super Tuna’.
In other BTS news, Jimin has teased the upcoming release of his second solo studio album, titled ‘MUSE’, due out later this month. The singer has since released the first single from the record, dropping ‘Smeraldo Garden Marching Band’ with Loco last week.
Meanwhile, BTS have also collaborated with Despicable Me 4 on a new Minions-themed line of merchandise in support of the upcoming film.
