It’s official: BTS members embarking on solo careers have chosen The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon as their go-to late-night debut stage.
Following in the footsteps of Jimin and Suga, South Korean singer-songwriter Jin is set to make his solo appearance on The Tonight Show next Wednesday, November 20.
Although this will be Jin’s first solo visit to Studio 6B, he’s no stranger to the show, having appeared alongside BTS in 2018, 2020, and 2021—including the unforgettable Grand Central Station takeover.
Known for his impressive high notes, Jin will release his first solo album, Happy, in the U.S. this Friday, November 15. The album’s lead single, “I’ll Be There,” a tribute to BTS fans, was co-produced by Jin and American artist MAX and released last month, showcasing a rockabilly style.
With Happy, Jin becomes the last of BTS’s seven members to release a solo project.
The band is currently on a break as its members complete the 18-21 months of mandatory military service required for young men in South Korea. Jin, the first to fulfill his service, completed it this past summer.
In a teaser video for Jin’s Tonight Show solo debut, Fallon, a known BTS fan, opens an envelope marked “top secret” and inserts a floppy disk labeled “special guest” into an old-school PC. As the track “Running Wild” from Jin’s new album plays, Fallon lights up when an image of the South Korean star gradually appears on the screen.
