BTS member Jin made a splash on MBC’s Half-Star Hotel in Lost Island, which aired on August 19th.
The episode recorded impressive viewership ratings of 6.4% according to Nielsen Korea, ranking first in its time slot, surpassing SBS’s Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny and MBC’s Oh Eun Yeong’s Report: Marriage Hell, and setting a new personal record for the show. In the episode, Jin joined the cast as they embarked on a challenging island survival experience. Despite the hardships, his infectious energy and unexpected culinary skills captivated audiences. He worked with Ahn Jung Hwan and Kim Nam Il. Lee Yeon Bok and his son Lee Hong Woon appeared as chefs.
The episode marked Jin’s first variety show appearance since completing his military service. On the boat to the deserted island, he declared that he would catch a “super tuna” level fish. However, their future was rough. They worked tirelessly, including installing eel traps, making shoe racks, and diving for seafood in the distant sea.
Chef Lee Yeon Bok whipped up a feast of spicy japtchae, mandarin rolls and tender steamed fish. Jin added to the culinary delights with his own creations: fresh seafood sashimi and homemade kimbap. The guests were blown away by the delicious spread, with one diner even admitting to being on the verge of tears.
Meanwhile, Jin will be releasing a solo album in the second half of this year.
