Jin Bolts Into The Top 10 With His Just-Released Single

It was only a few months ago that Jin finally released his long-awaited solo project. Happy arrived in November 2024, and when it dropped, he became the last member of BTS to share a complete collection on his own. As fans continue to enjoy that set, the singer has given them something new to love, and his following isn’t wasting any time in ensuring it becomes a strong seller.

Jin released a new tune titled “Close to You” on Sunday, January 26. The song quickly began rising on iTunes charts all around the world, and it’s become a top 10 smash on the American ranking less than a day after its arrival.

“Close to You” currently sits at No. 3 on the U.S. iTunes songs list. Jin’s cut is the third-bestselling in America on what is often considered the most important digital storefront in the market—and it could continue to climb in the coming hours.

At the moment, Lola Young’s “Messy” is leading the charge on iTunes in America. The breakout star is beating Rosé and Bruno Mars, who sit at No. 2 with “Apt.”

As the single version surges toward the top of the iTunes ranking, an instrumental of “Close to You” is also on the rise. At the time of writing, the take without any vocals lives at No. 13, just three spaces away from joining Jin’s other bestseller inside the loftiest tier.

“Close to You” is credited as part of the soundtrack that accompanies the K-drama program When the Stars Gossip. According to the Spotify page where Jin’s tune can be found, his composition is the only song present on part three of the series’ release.

Jin has been on a releasing streak lately, and he’s not letting up. He last shared new music in late November, when he joined fellow artist Taka on the tune “Falling.”

Just days before “Falling” arrived, Jin dropped his solo EP Happy, which became a global win—just as has been the case with every other member of BTS whenever they release music on their own. The short project launched at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S., making him the latest solo South Korean star to hit the top 10 on the competitive tally.

Happy produced a pair of singles in “I’ll Be There” and “Running Wild,” with the latter being the bigger hit of the two. “I’ll Be There” missed out on reaching the Hot 100, though it did bring Jin to the top spot on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart. “Running Wild” peaked at No. 53 on the list of the most-consumed songs in the U.S., bringing the BTS powerhouse back to the ranking.
