Jimin is in charge of Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart again this week with his new single “Closer Than This.” The BTS singer earns another winner on the ranking of the bestselling tunes in the U.S. this frame with his latest one-off track, which instantly became a bestseller. According to Luminate, the single sold just over 14,000 copies in its debut tracking period. With another No. 1 to his credit, Jimin ties with his bandmate J-Hope for a specific space in chart history.
As "Closer Than This" arrives at No. 1, the tune also gives Jimin another top 10 smash on the Digital Song Sales chart. With one more placement in the competitive region to his credit, the superstar ties with his friend and fellow BTS musician J-Hope for the third-most appearances in the region among South Korean solo artists.
Throughout their careers, both Jimin and J-Hope have sent seven different tracks into the top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart. J-Hope was the first to do so, but Jimin has now caught up as 2024 begins.
Leading all South Korean solo musicians when looking at who has secured the most top 10 singles on the Digital Song Sales chart is Jung Kook. The chart-topper has pushed a lucky 13 tracks into the space under his own name, with almost all of them hitting that tier in 2023.
Coming in second place among artists who fit this specific description is fellow BTS powerhouse Suga. He has thus far accrued nine wins in the tier, scoring smashes as both Suga and Agust D, a moniker he uses when releasing music outside of the band that made him a household name.
When looking at all South Korean musical acts–and not just soloists–this ranking changes slightly. BTS has appeared inside the top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart with 36 different tracks. Impressively, the septet added to that sum several times in 2023, even though they are on hiatus.
