Jimin Announces Sophomore Solo Album ‘Muse’ Slated For This Summer

In a surprise move that surely has his fans and followers of his band BTS jumping for joy, singer Jimin has announced a new album. The title is scheduled to drop in only about a month, so thankfully they won’t have to wait long before they get to hear more from the superstar.

Jimin’s solo album Muse will be released on July 19. The set marks his second full-length on his own, apart from the group that made him famous.

Muse is set to feature his song “Closer Than This,” which Jimin dropped in late 2023. Until now, it appeared that the tune was just a standalone gift to fans.

According to a statement shared by Jimin’s record labels Hybe and Big Hit Music, Muse “documents his journey to find the source of his inspiration.” What exactly that means in terms of sound or style isn’t yet clear, but that may be the purpose of the vague description.

Muse marks Jimin’s sophomore album as a soloist, and it comes only a little more than a year after his first project as a musician on his own. In March 2023, he dropped Face, a short set that proved he could compete with the best of them and that his own fanbase was huge as well.

Face debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. It was one of several projects from BTS members that year to stall in the runner-up rung on the list of the most-consumed albums in the U.S. So far, no South Korean solo musician has hit No. 1 on the tally.

While the EP didn’t reach No. 1 on the albums chart, Face did help Jimin make history in other ways. The project produced a No. 1 single on the Hot 100, as “Like Crazy” wasted no time in rising to the summit. That cut made the BTS singer the first South Korean solo musician to rule the ranking.
