BTS’ Suga Make Rolling Stone’s “The 100 Best Albums Of 2023” List

Rolling Stone’s year-end list of “The 100 Best Albums of 2023” is out!

With the end of the year rapidly approaching, the American magazine has published its annual list of its picks for the best albums of the year.

NewJeans’ latest mini album “Get Up” made the list at No. 33, with Simone Vozick-Levinson writing, “The five-headed hype machine that took K-pop by storm with their 2022 debut come back even sleeker and smarter with their second EP. This time, NewJeans tap into a nostalgic goodie bag of Y2K-era R&B and U.K. garage/drum-and-bass sounds that puts ‘Get Up’ in line with recent coups by FKA Twigs and PinkPantheress… Put this up against any other 12 minutes in pop this year, and NewJeans are the odds-on favorites.”

Meanwhile, BTS’ Suga’s first official solo album “D-DAY” (released under the name Agust D) ranked No. 69 on this year’s list. Maura Johnston wrote, “‘D-DAY,’ the third release BTS’ Suga has put out as Agust D, is a tight 10-track collection that lyrically and musically probes the concept of freedom—what it means, whether it’s a blessing or a curse. Take the double-entendre title of the thundering ‘Haegeum,’ which wraps around a drone from the two-stringed traditional Korean instrument of the same name. ‘Haegeum’ also can be translated as ‘liberation,’ and Agust D unpacks that idea in knotty, spat-out rhymes that take aim at conformity, the trappings of ‘success,’ and information overload.”

Congratulations to both NewJeans and Suga!

What were your favorite albums of 2023?
