Fame has its pitfalls.
Superstar Jungkook, the main vocalist of the global K-pop group BTS, has become a target of death threats.
It all started with Jungkook chiding a fan for sending food to his residence on VLive. The ‘Euphoria’ hitmaker referred to the importance of respecting privacy and personal boundaries and explained that while he was grateful for the gesture, he won’t eat the food, and if this was repeated, he would take legal action.
In a shocking turn of events, it was revealed that the same fan who sent him food has now taken to sending him death threats instead. One of Jungkook’s fan pages, JK Daily, shared screenshots of the death threats posted by the crazed fan and urged BTS’ agency, HYBE, to protect its artist. In the pictures, the ‘fan’ is seen saying, “You think, I can’t kill him? I knew where his house was, and was able to send him food …”
His WeVerse post, translated by a fan read, “His post was translated by Twitter user @BTStranslation and read, “Please don't send food delivery to my house. Even if you send it, I won't eat it. I'm thankful for the thought, but since I eat well by myself, you (the sender) can buy and eat it. I'm requesting. If it's sent one more time, I'll inquire about the order number on the receipt and take measures. Therefore, please stop heh.”
ARMY trended the hashtag #protectjungkook #bighitprotectjungkook #hybeprotectyourartist.
Korean fans eventually traced the threats to an Instagram account called @chu02859. In one post, the user uploaded a picture of a knife, indicating a threat of violence.
Jungkook recently hit a career milestone when his song ‘Left and Right’ (created in collaboration with Charlie Puth) crossed the 600 million mark on streaming giant Spotify. This makes Jungkook the first K-pop soloist to achieve this milestone. With the song’s success, he has successfully crossed 1.1 billion streams, becoming the first K-pop solo artist to do so.
