As all seven members of BTS are busy with their mandatory military enlistment–a requirement for all men in South Korea by a certain age—the boy band’s fan base is keeping their music alive. One of the group’s album cuts from years ago has surged in sales in the U.S., becoming another surprising win for the group.
BTS’s song “Outro: Tear” has blasted onto the iTunes chart, ranking as one of the top-sellers in the United States. The tune has broken into the top 10 on the tally almost instantaneously. As of the publishing of this story, the track sits at No. 9, but it could climb in the coming hours or days.
“Outro: Tear” is not the only new entrant inside the top 10 on the iTunes chart today (December 13). BTS’s song comes in behind releases by Niall Horan and John Legend and even Beyoncé. Horan and Legend collaborated on the reworked version of “The Show,” which fans of both stars rushed to buy. Queen Bey has finally released her song “Grown Woman” to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of her self-titled album. Until now, the song wasn’t available on streaming and digital download platforms.
BTS currently claims a pair of spots inside the top 10 on the iTunes America chart. Yesterday, the band’s song “Spring Day” flew to No. 1 on the tally. Now, it’s down slightly to No. 2. The track has been pushed off the throne by Teddy Swims’ single “Lose Control.”
“Outro: Tear” was released as a cut featured on BTS’s album Love Yourself: Tear. The title dropped in May 2018, and it became a No. 1 charter for the band. As the song’s name suggests, it serves as the final entry on the full-length’s tracklist.
When it was first released, “Outro: Tear” wasn’t a big commercial success. BTS was still just getting started with their global takeover, and at the time, only their proper singles became noticeable wins on the Billboard charts. Now, as fans across the country buy the cut, it may work its way to the weekly rankings in a few days, perhaps giving the group another win as they’re on hiatus.
