Just a couple of weeks after BTS' Jungkook warned fans about invading his privacy, fellow bandmate Jin had to suffer at the hands of a sasaeng fan while serving in the military.
For the unversed, in January this year, a report of a military nurse making an unauthorized visit to meet Jin had come to light that caused much stir among the group’s fans. While the issue was not publicly addressed at the time, a detailed report explaining that a military nurse (Lieutenant A) from the 28th division visiting the 5th Division Recruit Training Center where Jin is currently stationed was finally released.
According to the report, Lieutenant A, a female nursing officer in her 20s, drove about 30 minutes in her car from Unit C located in B-city, Gyeonggi-do to visit BTS' Jin. In cahoots with the medic of Jin's base, Person D, the nurse managed to meet up with the singer under the ruse of administering the second vaccine which would help prevent hemorrhagic fever.
After doing so, she tried to make an excuse for being around Jin by telling everyone in her unit that Jin was extremely ill. It was then discovered that she broke rules and didn't inform her superiors that she was leaving her workplace. According to 79 of the Military Criminal Act (Leave without permission), leaving the workplace without permission is punishable by imprisonment for up to one year.
Furthermore, Lieutenant A has been accused of stealing Tylenol. According to an informant, while on the phone with Person D, Lieutenant A heard that the 5th Division had a shortage of certain drugs and allegedly promised to give a large amount of Tylenol from the 28th Division, essentially bribing her way into meeting Jin. While no action has been taken currently, the higher ups are in discussion regarding the offenses.
Responding to the news, BTS' label HYBE shared that the Defense Ministry has been informed and that they will be checking the issue surrounding Jin. "Last March, the division received the case and conducted a supervisory investigation. As a result, it was confirmed that officer A visited another unit without permission around January. Currently, the division is conducting an additional legal investigation and has conveyed its position that it will be dealt with strictly according to the laws and regulations according to the results," a representative said.
