BTS is currently on a musical break, as the seven members are all enlisted in the South Korean military. While they may be focused on something other than music at the moment, that doesn’t mean that the world-famous brand is going to stop generating money. A new product focused on the boy band is coming for fans to snap up–and they’ll only need to wait a few days to get their hands on it.
A new manga based on BTS has been announced, and it tells the story of the band’s meteoric rise to the top of the charts and superstardom. Titled FAME:BTS, the book was announced on January 4, and thankfully, superfans of the group will be able to pick up a copy very soon. The manga is set to be released on January 10, and it’s already available for pre-order. Fans of BTS and manga will be able to order the 22-page BTS:FAME in both digital and physical formats.
For those not familiar with the medium, mangas–not to be confused with MAGA–are graphic novels. They originate from Japan and are sometimes referred to as cartoons. The word manga is used interchangeably by some people with comic books, but for those who are very interested in them, there are differences between the two formats.
BTS:FAME was created by Tidalwave Productions, which has plenty of experience in this medium. The manga was written by Eric M. Esquivel, illustrated by Lucy Fidelis Arts, and the cover art was handled by Paulo Teles Yonami.
The South Korean boy band isn’t the first musical act to be featured in the FAME series from Tidalwave Productions. They follow fellow superstars like Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and several others.
While BTS may be best-known for their musical output, the band has parlayed their success and fame–hence the name of the manga–into plenty of other products. Some of these offerings have the backing of the group, but as is the case with any famous name, there are others who look to cash in on their success. Last year, the septet was involved in the creation of a full-length book all about themselves, titled Beyond The Story: 10-Year Record of BTS. That set was a bestseller around the world.
