ARMY Bring Two Of BTS’s Oldest Singles Back To The Charts

BTS is on a musical break as the seven singers who comprise the band fulfill their military duties in their home country of South Korea. While they may not be releasing new music at the moment, that hasn’t stopped them from finding great success on the Billboard charts. The group’s dedicated and massive fan base, known collectively as ARMY, have ensured that the septet continues to earn a spot on various lists by looking into their history.

This week, BTS owns two spots on the World Digital Song Sales chart, which tracks the bestselling tunes in America labeled as “world,” a somewhat vague term. The ranking often includes Afrobeats and K-pop hits, as well as other types of music found around the globe. Many of the wins on the list are foreign-language–but not Spanish–but not entirely.

BTS earns a new No. 1 hit this week, as their track “Danger” finds its way to the top of the World Digital Song Sales chart. The tune blasts in atop the tally, selling 2,431 copies, according to Luminate. That sum is large enough for the track to also debut on the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart at No. 16.

“Danger” marks BTS’s thirty-seventh No. 1 hit on the World Digital Song Sales chart. With another win, they further their lead over all other artists for the most champions on the tally. Blackpink comes in second place among all South Korean stars, with nine No. 1s.

Just a few spots further down on the World Digital Song Sales chart, BTS snags a second placement. Their track “Just One Day” reappears at No. 6 on this week’s ranking.

The World Digital Song Sales chart only features 10 spots, as Billboard recently truncated a number of purchase-only lists as Americans continue to focus more on streaming, instead of buying the albums and singles they love. That means that BTS currently owns 20% of all three spaces on the ranking they know best.

Neither “Danger” nor “Just One Day” are new to the World Digital Song Sales chart. They return to the list after not being present on the ranking for some time, but they have both spent several frames on the list already. The pair of tunes were both released in 2014, so they’re inching toward their 10-year anniversary.
